—Drawn by the scent of flowers, there, white karasuuri blossoms unfold. The maiden stands as if meant to be, smiling softly, with quiet delight. I thought then— I am already being entwined.
A ghost painting that captures the moment when boundaries collapse. The instant a smile is perceived as beautiful, the karasuuri begins to quietly entwine darkness and lingering desire. The borders between life and death, between the one who gazes and the one who is gazed upon, come undone. Drawn toward beauty, one finds the vines already reaching their feet. This yūrei-zu is conceived as a device that pulls the observer down from their place as a bystander and transforms them into part of the uncanny.

―花の匂ひに誘はれしそこは
白妙のからすうり咲けり
娘はならふべく佇み
嬉しさうに微笑めり
我は思ひき
絡めたらるる、と
境界が崩れる瞬間を切り取った幽霊図。
微笑みを美しいと感じたとき、カラスウリは闇と情念を静かに絡めとる。
生と死、見る者と見られる者の境はほどけ、美しさに惹かれた時点で、蔓はすでに足元へ伸びている。
この幽霊図は、傍観者を怪異の一部へ引き込む装置として描いた。
